BUILDING TRANSITION TEAM: UPDATE AND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

surveyThe Building Transition Team has been hard at work over the last few months coordinating many aspects of the move to our new campus, Genesee Hill. The Safety and Transportation portion of this team is now working with SDOT and SPS to help create plans for mobility around the new campus. These plans will include pick up and drop off systems as well as suggested routes for pedestrians and bikes. The transportation committee created a survey to help identify areas of need as well as community concerns that may impact this process. The survey is anonymous and takes approximately 5-7 minutes to complete. Please only complete the survey only once per family.

Our group could use more helpers now (planning, communications, etc) and in the fall (Walking School Bus leaders, etc). Please consider joining us! If you would like more information on how to become involved in the transportation committee, or to participate in future transportation initiatives at our new school, please provide your information in the survey fields when completing the survey. Our next ALL Building Transition Team meeting is May 3 from 3:30-5PM in the staff lounge.

Congratulations Cheri Carl – February’s Volunteer of the Month

profile

Congratulations to our February Volunteer of the Month – Cheri Carl.  Cheri is mom to 2nd grader Ryan.  She helps in the classroom, on field trips, with Scholastic orders, as a recess monitor and is the Communications Chair for our PTA.  She enjoys traveling, swimming, yoga, spending time with her family and jumping on the trampoline with her son.

“Cheri, your dedication and service is greatly appreciated.  Schmitz Park is a better place because of you.” – Robert Kelly, PTA President

“Cheri is such a flexible volunteer in our classroom! She always says yes to helping with anything and everything, and fully gives her attention to the students she works with. We appreciate all that she does for Room 8!” – Ms. Noreng, 2nd Grade Teacher

“Cheri is always wearing a great smile and has such willingness to help. On the board she takes great care to filter the large, tedious amounts of communication we send her into impactful, concise statements that become the messages our families enjoy reading on our blog and our bulletin. We are grateful for her creativity and assistance. ” – Kelley O’Connor, PTA VP

Thank you so much for your hard work this year!
