Robin is mom to Helen (9), June (6) and Laura (4). She logged 18.6 hours in April working in Mrs. Marroquin & Mr. Oschrin’s class. She also helped with Passport, field trips and FUN Outdoor activities.
She loves exploring nature with her children and practicing yoga and also volunteers for both the Seattle Aquarium’s Beach Naturalist and Cedar River Salmon Journey Naturalist Programs. She also enjoyed teaching Spanish for the Enrichment program and hopes to continue next year.
“Robin has been a consistent presence in our classroom. Whether she is making copies for me or reading with the kids, I appreciate her so much!” Mrs Marroquin
“Robin Lutton’s generosity with her time and energy has made a huge impact on my class. She has been instrumental in coordinating our art curriculum, and has been a reliable and enthusiastic participant in the Finding Urban Nature program. Her dedication to the Schmitz Park community is inspiring. Thanks Robin!” Mr. Oschrin
Thanks so much to Robin for your service to our school. She also gets the reserved volunteer parking space for the month of May!!

The Building Transition Team has been hard at work over the last few months coordinating many aspects of the move to our new campus, Genesee Hill. The Safety and Transportation portion of this team is now working with SDOT and SPS to help create plans for mobility around the new campus. These plans will include pick up and drop off systems as well as suggested routes for pedestrians and bikes. The transportation committee created a survey to help identify areas of need as well as community concerns that may impact this process. The survey is anonymous and takes approximately 5-7 minutes to complete. Please only complete the survey only once per family.
Our group could use more helpers now (planning, communications, etc) and in the fall (Walking School Bus leaders, etc). Please consider joining us! If you would like more information on how to become involved in the transportation committee, or to participate in future transportation initiatives at our new school, please provide your information in the survey fields when completing the survey. Our next ALL Building Transition Team meeting is May 3 from 3:30-5PM in the staff lounge.
Click HERE for the survey. Click HERE for a site map for the new building.
We hope you can join us for our upcoming PTA meeting on April 21 from 6:30-8:30PM. The agenda will include two speakers: a short presentation from BeSMART for kids – A community educational program to promote firearm safety and teach adults to take simple steps to prevent child gun deaths. Join us and let’s start the conversation about keeping kids safe; and Schmitz Park parent Patricia London, who teaches our after school enrichment class “Life Skills with Etiquette,” will talk about kids and social etiquette.
Child care is provided in the gym for school aged children.
Nancy is a former Schmitz Park parent and generously donates her time to the library each week at school. She logged over 25 hours in March. She has earned the reserved parking spot for the month of April.
And, THANK YOU to the Fredericks who purchased the parking spot during our auction this year and donated it to our Volunteer of the Month.

Congratulations to our February Volunteer of the Month – Cheri Carl. Cheri is mom to 2nd grader Ryan. She helps in the classroom, on field trips, with Scholastic orders, as a recess monitor and is the Communications Chair for our PTA. She enjoys traveling, swimming, yoga, spending time with her family and jumping on the trampoline with her son.
“Cheri, your dedication and service is greatly appreciated. Schmitz Park is a better place because of you.” – Robert Kelly, PTA President
“Cheri is such a flexible volunteer in our classroom! She always says yes to helping with anything and everything, and fully gives her attention to the students she works with. We appreciate all that she does for Room 8!” – Ms. Noreng, 2nd Grade Teacher
“Cheri is always wearing a great smile and has such willingness to help. On the board she takes great care to filter the large, tedious amounts of communication we send her into impactful, concise statements that become the messages our families enjoy reading on our blog and our bulletin. We are grateful for her creativity and assistance. ” – Kelley O’Connor, PTA VP
Thank you so much for your hard work this year!
